It’s tempting to view the crisis over separating migrant families at the U.S.-Mexico border as an example of a bureaucracy run amok, or even as made-for-media power politics between Congress and the President.
Unfortunately, at its core it is neither of those, but rather something much more sinister: the first stirrings of out and out tyranny.
Tyrannical rule often begins this way, as something that looks like a mistake–perhaps over-excited law enforcement people or confused bureaucrats or even inter party conflict.
That’s the way it was in Argentina in the 1970s, when young people began mysteriously disappearing in night-time arrests by paramilitary and secret police. By the early 1980s, as the total of disappearances approached 30,000, it became clear that the disappearances were no mistake.
We’ve seen another example of exploding tyranny in Turkey, following a 2016 coup attempt. At first, it seemed like the usual response to a failed coup, with generals and high-level government officials being arrested. But as the months went by, and the detentions and arrests expanded from 10,000 to 20,000 and eventually to more than 100,000 this year—including university professors, journalists, and judges—it became clear that something much more than a response to a coup attempt was occurring.
Unfortunately, America’s sudden fixation on separating migrant children from their parents bears similar hallmarks of tyranny. Key among these qualities are lots of seeming confusion and double talk by government officials, and finger pointing about the origination and rationale for the heavy-handed policies.
A major goal of the confusion is to promote secrecy. If you listen closely to reports from NPR and CNN, you learn that reporters don’t know such basics as how many centers there are to house children separated from their parents. Even prominent politicians seem unable to extract significant amounts of information. Reporters and politicians were allowed a short tour of one facility in Texas—which you figure has to be the most attractive facility since it is being used as a model—and that became the main source of reporting, since no one was allowed into other centers. Some reporters characterized the model center housing young children as a bunch of “cages.”
More important, parents of children taken away have little information. NPR reported: “According to the Texas Civil Rights Project, which has been able to speak with detained adults, multiple parents reported that they were separated from their children and not given any information about where their children would go. The organization also says that in some cases, the children were taken away under the pretense that they would be getting a bath.”
The secrecy also makes it difficult for Americans to fully appreciate the horror being visited on migrant families. So we have to rely on isolated snippets to get a sense of the trauma for the children and parents. In today’s connected world, we can likely expect the first-hand accounts to gradually become public, such as one recording of 10 Central American children sobbing just after being separated from their parents.
Then there is this account in the New Yorker magazine, of a mother from Honduras who was separated from her five-year-old son six weeks ago. They still haven’t seen each other, and she’s frantic she’ll be deported without him: “On the afternoon of their second day in detention, two male agents entered the cell. ‘They didn’t say anything,’ Rivera told me. ‘They just walked over and grabbed Jairo. It felt like my son was stuck to me. He clung to me, cried and screamed. They had to pull him away.’ She pleaded with the agents to tell her what was going on. The other women in the cell were too stunned to speak, Rivera told me. In the next few hours, the agents started taking other children, too.”
The contradictory and confusing explanations offered by officials overseeing the entire child-separation offensive are also designed to suggest that no one is responsible for the outrage. That helps communicate that the events are somehow blips, exceptions, not part of any larger goal. The President has been the master of the double talk going on, seeming to change his tune by the day and hour.
At several points he has blamed Democrats for somehow having “signed” something that has forced his hand, making the family separations mandatory. Except there is nothing except the policy of his own attorney general, which Trump presumably approved. Then on Monday the White House, in a press release, followed yet another path: “The harshest family separation policy is that too many Americans have been permanently separated from loved ones because of crime spilling across our border.” The statement then referred to examples of American citizens who have been victimized by crime from migrants.
The power of the double talk is to suggest that the President is powerless to act unless Congress acts. In the wake of the confusion he continues to create, the family separations can continue as well, as if they are somehow just happening, outside of any individual’s purview of responsibility. By the end of today, the prez had changed his tune, yet again, announcing that he was retreating, and had signed an executive order banning family breakups.
Despite the flip flop, a larger message has been communicated in the immigration tyranny: that it could be more widely applied to American citizens regarded as enemies—journalists, university professors, opposition politicians…..the list is endless. That larger message became clearer each day the administration refused to back down in the face of widespread domestic criticism and even international condemnation. Certainly putting law enforcement people through the repeated heartbreaking exercise of breaking up families and imprisoning children will serve to harden them for the real work that could be coming up before long.

David,
Thank you for writing about this issue. Thank you for using the word Tyranny.
I am in Scotland right now. In every conversation we have with people from all over the world, they ask “ what the hell is going on in America?”
It is extremely disturbing to everyone we meet.
Separating children and babies from their parents as a deterrent to immigration is a form of state sanctioned child abuse of the worst form.
It is also state sponsored kidnapping. Children can not be found. Parents are deported with out their kids!!!!
At the Nuremberg trials held after WW2, those that followed orders that were inhumane were hung for “just following orders”. Following orders is no longer an excuse for ICE agents and border patrol agents.
It makes me wonder what kind of person puts on a uniform and goes to work to just follow orders Orders that are tantamount to state sponsored and state ordered kidnaping and state ordered child abuse by separation of babies from mothers with the stated intent of causing fear to their mothers and others. Children be damned. They are just a disposable means to an end.
The dems have brought a bill to the flood to stop this cruel madness immediately. That clearly shows it is not a law passed or supported by the Democratic Party. Every past First Lady and our present First Lady refuse to agree and object to this policy.
America is rapidly loosing its position of moral authority in the world.
Did we see the 600 refugees on the ship in the Meditaranian subject to separation when they landed? No. They were greeted with food and care.
My only concern is how we as Americans can show our vehement objection to this policy. Voting will take place months from now. What about today?!! What can we do today ?
Mark,
You suggestion that the Democrats are introducing a bill to “to stop this cruel madness immediately” is the epitome of hypocrisy when one considers that since 1997, it has been US federal (democrat and republican) policy to separate children from their parents who try to enter your country illegally. I believe that most of the children that are being detained are crossing the border without their parents…
You need too broaden your perspective and perhaps listen to this interview…
https://www.therebel.media/joel_pollak_illegal_alien_minors_aren_t_being_locked_in_cages
Just as you are advocating that a suitable protocol needs to be followed with respect to raw milk production, so it is that your government is advocating that a suitable protocol that needs to be followed with respect to entering the US legally…
sorry to see your Trump Hydro-phobia has recurred, Mister McAffee. you ask”what can we do today?” … simple. The invaders can all come over to your place and erect a filthy little bario replica of what they left behind … then, after they use your address to register for every single welfare program – not to mention registering to Vote!! – they’ll be telling you that YOU are the one who has to leave.
I’m just throwing this out there but they are saying these folks were “illegals”
didn’t most people that built this county come here legally..dont most people that still try to migrate here use the legal way?
what am i missing?
if we have too many illegals the country is overburdened.
And I’m far from being a racist.
please don’t accuse me of this
but maybe I’m not seeing something here
Askiing any immigrant here in New jersey they will tell you America is so easy to get in to.They cannot do this in Australia or canada to get in.Its really hard.I am in an area where there are 1st generation immigrants did you know that the most part of them go on public assistance.I didn’t read this anywhere they have told me
I don’t think anyone is arguing that the immigration system isn’t badly screwed up. The recent argument has been with taking children away from their parents when families come here possibly illegally.
but why not send them both back parent and child…doesntt make sense to me why they separate them…possibly scare tactic…dna sampling…are there any missing children as of present date
Migrants aren’t automatically illegal. We have provisions in our law for granting asylum. Decision is up to a judge.
Separating children from parents is definitely a scare tactic, designed to scare other migrants from trying to enter U.S.
“But why not send them both back parent and child.”
Kathy,
As I understand it, most of the children are eventually reunited with their parents following due process… Please refer to that link I provided in my response to Mark.
Yes, the ultimate aim of the law is to intimidate…
That being said, politicians in both camps have toiled for many years with this issue of illegal immigration at the Mexican/US border. What has transpired over the last two decades is the predictable result of legislators and law enforcement officials trying to make the best of a bad situation. There is likely a better way of dealing with the problem… then again, are politicians on “both” sides of the border prepared to divest the funds and energy necessary in order to achieve that better way???
The mainstream medias reporting on this issue is disgraceful. It appears all they care about is manipulating the scenario in order to score political points.
thanx ken
These people are refugees, fleeing for their lives.. Also the people who came here “legally” if you can even say that, took land and lives of the First Nation people. Europeans came by the boat load killing natives and taking their land. The irony is that once they took over they didn’t want others to come.
As a child when I found out how boatloads of Jews were not accepted here as they were fleeing Nazism I was appalled. Rounding up Japanese Americans at the start of World War ll is also disturbing. Just seems that white Europeans think it’s ‘their’ country and everyone else is foreign so keep out.
since you’ve tossed it into the mix, Kathy, I recommend you educate thyself about “…how boatloads of Jews were not accepted here as they were fleeing Nazi-ism…”. Revisionist historians such as Dr Henry Makow have compiled quite a bit of hard evidence refuting the propaganda we were fed in the Public Fool System. Start with the Transfer Agreement, between the 3rd Reich and the leaders of the Zionist faction. It suited the Zionist plan for Jews fleeing Germany to be rejected in every country but Palestine.
gordon i did not write the above…not sure why my leerter k is there and my name..and I’m not that well versed in history…not sure who wrote the above…very strange..thought i was the only one able to make “kathy” in this blog and I’m not a jew I’m muslim convert
Why don’t you boycott all inventions created by Europeans to protest these evil white devils. You can start by boycotting the wheel, electricity, computers, cell phones, radio, television, air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanized farming, antibiotics, concrete, asphalt, automobiles, airplanes, helicopters, internal combustion engines, steams engines, all products made on assembly lines, etc.
why did they not keep the parents with the children and send them all back if they were illegal
im not sure i get this whole thing
A recent assessment of non documented first generation new comers to the USA showed that very few are on public assistance or welfare. Most get minimum wage jobs. Jobs that no American will take or do. Like picking apples, milking cows, hoeing weeds in our fields, making up hotel rooms, working in old age centers and hospitals. Non documented workers would not dare approach our government for assistance. They work !!
If anything it is the documented refugee that enters our welfare programs because they are invited to do so.
America needs these hard working low wage earning workers. The obese diabetic American will start to starve pretty darn quick when their bed ulcers start to infect for lack of care and the food starts to disappear at the stores and no one is there to spoon feed them in convalescent homes.
The idea that Americans are somehow displaced by immigrants is total ignorance of the reality on the farm and in the towns around America.
Who works the beef, chicken and pig slaughter plants? It is not documented Americans. It is the new coming or non documented worker.
So as you eat, please say thank you to those non documented workers that feed you!! As you travel and stay at hotels, say a thank you to those that changed those sheets.
Sent from Scotland ???????
By the way, in the EU, it is the new immigrant Russians, polish and northern African immigrants that work the fields, prepare the food and make the beds.
Face it….American leadership is elitist, racist and supremist. The current leadership is so alignated from reality that they truly don’t know how the world works or even who does the work.
Mcaffe I like your milk but your politics suck.
https://www.fairus.org/issue/publications-resources/fiscal-burden-illegal-immigration-united-states-taxpayers
https://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/trump-drinks-raw-milk/
Name me one Democrat senator or congressman running the upcoming elections that are pro raw milk.
So sick of you whining Democrats that leave out the word “Illegal” and substitute it for “Undocumented”..If your so big on open borders then have have a few million immigrants take up residence on your property and you finance them with keeping them working.
The flood of immigrants in Europe has caused massive problems. Are you following this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71HLSGDOM9k
I agree with you, Mark. These people want to raise their families (and eat) like anyone and they work very hard to do so. They would prefer to stay where they are if it weren’t for the many obstacles before them. One such is the “war on drugs” that our country is carrying out which allows the drug cartels to thrive in their countries. Another is the poorly negotiated free trade agreements that allow corporations to destroy the country’s environment in their pillaging of resources, displacement of farmers with the influx of cheaper US grown corn, poor labor practices to manufacture cheap goods.
If this country wanted to stem the flow of immigrants coming from the south, it would help raise the living conditions of those countries so that people could make a living there and feel safe. But this country is interested in backing the corporate interests and the people get in the way of that. The same people that say, NO Illegals”, are the same ones that say, “No Foreign Aid.”
Just like the many terrorists we created in our “war on terror” (that is really the forever war). Kill people’s families, make it impossible to make a living or feed themselves, create environments where one never feels safe, manipulate governments to protect your corporate interests and then wonder why these people take up arms against us. Just be grateful that these people coming up from Central America haven’t reached that level, yet.
insulated in your echochamber of libtard-ism, your numbers about the invaders are utterly incorrect, Mark McAffee ; there is a sub-class of non-whites on welfare who are parasitizing the country :for instance = California issues drivers licences to anyone who ‘can fog a mirror’. as for your bleat that – The current leadership is so alignated [ alienated? ] from reality that they truly don’t know how the world works or even who does the work.” One thing PRESIDENT Trump and his advisers DO understand, is : what matters to those who elected him. Trump will prevail as long as he stays on-message … that being the White Christian character of the nation, versus the mixed multitude of invaders …. = a healthy body is constantly re-sasses self versus non-self.
Nature abhors a vacuum ; the only reason there’s space for the invaders, at all, in this country is because we liquidated 40 million of our own children, in the womb.
your apoplectic rants on this forum insult our intelligence … proving what an ignoramus you are, of geopolitics. Educate thyself: required reading = the Kalgeri plan, whereby the white supremecist anti-christs explained how they intended to accomplish genocide via miscegenation, particularly – overwhelming the white countries with illegal invaders
“President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to halt the practice of separating illegal immigrant families apprehended at the border, despite questions about its constitutionality.”
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/06/20/donald-trump-signs-executive-order-to-stop-separating-families/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=daily&utm_content=image-category&utm_campaign=20180620
If America invested in other nations those nations would start to thrive and provide for themselves. Anytime that America is first and all others are last… that will create problems. Greed is not a sustainable economic policy.
Those that voted Trump into office are now being gutted by his America first policies. Ask a pig farmer how he feels about Chinese tarrifs. The bought $500 million in pork last year. They stopped buying Pork in 2018.
America is one nation in the world. It is not first or best. It is one nation among many. We must trade with others and share and care.
If we want refugees to stop flowing from war torn nations…then how about the USA stop bombing other countries. How about the USA stops taking oil and subjecting its concept of governance on others.
Peace and prosperity go together. Trade is performed between countries that treat each other with respect and not antagonism.
Telling the world that the Canadian Prime Minister is weak is not a good policy. But yet that’s what we have done.
Oppressing Mexico and threatening them asks for troubles with a huge trade partner. If we want fewer illegal aliens then build up our trade partners. They will buy more and there would be no reason to escape the economic oppression that we in America created.
It’s not America First. It’s America partnering with the world for trade and peace. There is peace and stability where there is economic opportunity.
Six bankruptcies and not paying contractors??? Not a model for America.
America must be the moral and ethical bright light of hope for all to see and emulate. How we treat immigrants is a model for the world.
Caged kids and jailed mothers?
Think again. This time with compassion and humanity.
Mark
“Telling the world that the Canadian prime minister is weak is not a good policy” you say? Comes a time when the truth needs to be told. … the Boy Dauphin was bred to play the role he’s in now … sired by Fidel Castro, communism is in his DNA … throwing open the borders to the wave of non-whites who are crossing the 49th parallel for one reason, only : a free ride on the backs of the producers. “weak” is too kind = race traitor Justin Trudeau is the laughingstock of the country, in power for a very short term.
Mr. Watson, How are you able to see your keyboard through the small holes in that sheet your wear?
Mark,
What exactly do you mean by, “If America invested in other nations”?
It appears you are suggesting that in advocating protectionist policies your current government is not “investing” in other nations and is therefore being “greedy”? If that is in fact what you are saying, how can you applaud the Canadian Government’s use of protectionist policies (tariffs) in support of it’s dairy cartel. Is it not as well being greedy? It appears when it comes to trade agreements; there is a fine line between good sense and greed. Trading with other nations can be a double-edged sword especially if a country enters into a trade agreement at the expense of it’s own national interest!
In stating that “America first does not mean America alone”, Donald Trump inadvertently described why the United States of America is the largest direct investor abroad of all nations

Your use of the word “tyranny” is apt, David. Please continue to shine a light in these dark times. I hope we can begin to repair the damage our country has inflicted on these poor children.
The law to separate parents from their children when they cross the border illegally was passed in 1997. It’s wrong and has to change. However, do you know how many children are secretly brought into this country to be sold for human sex trafficking? Or that some 40% of children who are detained (since 2007) are not claimed—no one comes to get them? Ever? They become a ward of the state which can be much worse. Americans are not saying don’t let these kids in! We are not saying let them in and live in cages! We are saying follow the money!! Protect these children from the atrocities that happen when they are brought in by traffickers disguised as a friend of the family or a family member— these kids get lost, used and abused. We need DIFFERENT laws that protect these children all the way down the line and make sure they are reunited with Family and NOT an abuser.
If you want to know when the ownership of people really started look no further b/c this country was built on the backs of slaves, bloodshed and nothing has changed— it’s just hidden! We are still commodities today! And so are our children! TRY to connect the dots!

There was no law passed in 1997, either to separate parents from their children or for anything else regarding immigration. The policy to separate parents from their children was announced by the AG Jeff Sessions in April and May of this year.
Here is some background about the misinformation that is spread about this inhumane policy to make it appear it is old hat, when it is not. Separating parents from their children was considered by other administrations and rejected.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/was-law-separate-families-passed-1997/
The separation of children and parents goes on every day when the State claims your body as its property. This is tyranny and it has happened under many presidents.
S-Nopes is propaganda.
See this article from the medical kidnap site, titled: Mother Faces Jury Trial As Texas Seeks to Terminate Her Parental Rights Over Daughter Injured by Gardasil Vaccine https://medicalkidnap.com/2018/06/20/mother-faces-jury-trial-as-texas-seeks-to-terminate-her-parental-rights-over-daughter-injured-by-gardasil-vaccine/
The jury ruled against Anita having right to her daughter June 21, 2018: Jury terminates parental rights for Victoria mom accused of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

Let’s state the facts in America. Take Home-schooling: “The reason the parent-child relationship exists is because the state confers legal parenthood on people through its paternity and maternity laws. The state empowers parents to do anything with children, to take them home, to have custody….” Parents are given rights by the state. That is Marxism in Amerika! The State dictates what happens to the children whether there are parents who birthed them or not. https://www.facebook.com/MichelleMalkinCRTV/videos/491142501305571/
The following article is well written; it states, “The Trump administration isn’t changing the rules that pertain to separating an adult from the child. Those remain the same. Separation happens only if officials find that the adult is falsely claiming to be the child’s parent, or is a threat to the child, or is put into criminal proceedings”.
https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/05/illegal-immigration-enforcement-separating-kids-at-border/#slide-1
The article goes on to state re. the Flores Consent Decree from 1997, “that unaccompanied children can be held only 20 days. A ruling by the Ninth Circuit extended this 20-day limit to children who come as part of family units”.
There’s a whole lot of denial and backtracking going on since the family separation policy took effect over the last couple months, and more than 2,000 children were taken from their parents and imprisoned. The article you link to explains the policy in dry bureaucratese: “The new Trump policy is to prosecute all adults. The idea is to send a signal that we are serious about our laws and to create a deterrent against re-entry. (Illegal entry is a misdemeanor, illegal re-entry a felony.) When a migrant is prosecuted for illegal entry, he or she is taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals. In no circumstance anywhere in the U.S. do the marshals care for the children of people they take into custody. The child is taken into the custody of HHS, who cares for them at temporary shelters.” Translation: by categorizing everyone who crosses the border as a criminal, we now have an excuse to separate the families and take children away from their parents.
I don’t get why people who seem to be ga-ga over this president will go through all kinds of linguistic contortions to suggest this family separation thing isn’t new. AG Sessions explained it pretty simply in April: “If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law … If you don’t like that, then don’t smuggle children over our border…..We don’t want to separate families, but we don’t want families to enter the border illegally.” Just own up to it, like he did.
yah, and you can own up to your own mistake, too, David Gumpert. Read the expose by the Health Ranger Mike Adams about how that photo of the bawling baby girl, was only part of a larger propaganda effort. … the child was NOT separated from the mother, even though she’d been deported once already! So who’s at fault? The govt. of the US of A for enforcing the law to protect its border? … or a foreigner who broke the law of that country, knowing full well that she risked removal of the child ?
It’s not my mistake. It is Time magazine’s mistake, and the publication has owned up to it. Unlike Health Ranger and other conspiracy pubs, most of the mainstream media that the prez castigates as “fake news” admit their mistakes. All professionals, including journalists, make errors. It takes a serious professional to admit to errors. Here is one account of the crying Honduran girl:
https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/immigration-border-crisis/time-issues-correction-photo-crying-2-year-old-migrant-n885836
I’m reluctant to believe that Time Magazine’s front-page depiction of Donald Trump hovering over a crying little girl was a mistake.
https://www.therebel.media/time_magazine_weaponized_photo_of_crying_girl_to_bash_trump
Maybe not an honest mistake. But the mistake was widely reported in the media, and reflects badly on Time journalistically. And for whatever it is worth, Time isn’t nearly as influential as it was, say, 50 years ago.
It’s no secret that this caged immigrant children’s issue is an intense media campaign right now, even though it’s been going on for years. Your timing on this post is curiously coincidental. Most Americans think our press (of all types) represent American interests. I strongly disagree. Also most Americans think that war only happens when bang bang, boom boom is going on. There might be a reason why the word campaign is used often in describing the press, and also in military strategy books. Why will no member of the press talk about the Coudenhove-Kalergi plan; the use of purposeful immigration flows as a means of cultural destruction?
“Mass immigration is a phenomenon the causes of which are cleverly concealed by the political elites, and the multicultural propaganda is employed to falsely portray it as inevitable. In this article we intend to prove once and for all, that mass immigration is not a spontaneous phenomenon. What the elites try to present as an inevitability of modern life, is actually the product of a plan conceived around a table and prepared over decades, to completely change the face of our continent.”
http://www.westernspring.co.uk/the-coudenhove-kalergi-plan-the-genocide-of-the-peoples-of-europe/
ok …… why did this not happen in the 1800’s and early 1900’s ……the later i have expierance with as my grandfather came from italy with 25 dollars in his pocket). most people that came here did not have children when they entered.the ones that did were possibly seeking asylum?but this did not happen too much way back then …this whole “illegal thing” or did it ???
there are countries like ours but they only allow a cewrtian amount in at a time.the whole infrastructure of the country can go down pretty quick i think as” there are not enough cows to feed everyone”.
By the appearance of most Americans, it would seem that there are more than enough cows to feed everyone. This belief that we have some sort of scarcity here is nonsense. Tell that to truly starving people that we don’t have enough. America consumes more than it’s share per capita. In food, energy, resources.
People came here in the early 1900’s with children. Often large families. Where did you get the impression it wasn’t so?
The biggest change is the color of the current wave of immigrants. It used to be the Chinese(Chinese Exclusion Act) and Irish(vilified by protestant anglo-saxons who didn’t want Catholics and feared papal control of the US) that were not wanted in this country. Now it’s brown-skinned people (please read Gordon Watson’s racist rants to see this is the trigger for the current anti-immigrant sentiments that are inflamed by the bigoted words of our current president). People fear change and express it through hatred and anger. Mark expressed it well. If you want less immigration, you would do well to support those countries so that they have thriving economies and thus don’t seek to leave. The “Rising Tide lifts ALL boats” phrase is an apt one. Help them and they will help you. The idea of wasting billions on useless walls to make a few contractors very rich when that same money could be used to help those countries stabilize is just asinine.
One very big differance is Bob is that immigrants came here to do what the government was giving out a program called “homesteading”.Families or couples were given a peice of land for aprox 5 years in an area of the usa that was very harsh to farm and grow food for the masses (lol) not many masses back then …….It was given for free.If they could handle living in the harsh climate…some survived and some did not.The difference today is that we dont “make” anything any more .My grandfather came here with 25 dollars from italy he finally got a job at general motors …we dont have general motors anymore…you see where im going with this.Yes its the kind thing to help people when they are needy but not if it hurts the ones that are allready here in the usa. many immigrants come here with no job…no money etc ok so how will they survive while they are here? from government programs. Most are not fleeing from religious or government problems they just want more money in their pocket like everyone else…no problem there…And Im sorry mark is wrong most of these immigrants are not in these so called “sewrvice” jobs no one else wants. They are in some but the rest of the folks that have these service jobs have lived here many years …born here…mentally challenged, etc… they are not new immigrants. That might of been true years ago but not today.some people also will tell youn that The United nations is behind this if you look closer..THEY DONT WANT BORDERS.everything in life has borders .its human to want to have borders on things…anything for that matter. But whats not normal is to NOT have borders and one entity controls the whole thing..,that bveing the united nations. And the ones that do not want borders are usually bombed like syria ,lebonon.it gets deeper and im not sure in understand it all.but i know the un does not want borders, does not want guns for everyone, does not want the family unit for everyone, does not want religion (what everone you choose)
You have a home…it has a door…whern someone comes to your home even if in trouble…they knock dont they?
its the same thing when going to another country respect entering that country
I remember that my family came to the US, it took us over 2 years to jump through the government hoops required to be a legal immigrant. That, and having to get vaccines and passports because we had to get on an airplane rather than just crawl across an unfenced land border as with Mexico and Canada.
If you ask me, immigrants are definitely not “undesirables” as long as they respect the legal requirements, intend to find work and be self sustaining, and/or have family or friends that will provide a safety net just in case it’s needed.
White House proposes a narrowing of FDA’s mission — and a new name
https://www.statnews.com/2018/06/21/fda-new-name-mission-proposal/
Yes, this is a proposal that makes a lot of sense. Food regulation shouldn’t be divided among agencies in such a haphazard way as it has been.
Dr Joe,
I have long supported the change noted in your link. It is really inefficient and a poor design to have the FDA involved with food. That’s the USDA territory.
Raw Milk – What’s Behind the Demand for Fresh Unprocessed Milk?
Ever wonder what’s behind the falling demand for conventional processed milk and the current so-called “Raw Milk Movement”? Dr. Joseph Heckman PhD will explain the reasons for the ever growing consumer interest in fresh unprocessed milk from organic cows on pasture. In his presentation he will answer the following questions: How does taste influences milk choice? How does pasture feeding influence milk quality? What scientific evidence is there for health benefits from drinking fresh unprocessed milk? What are the differences between “Fresh Unprocessed Milk”, “Certified Milk” and “Raw Milk”? What were the historical reasons for the pasteurization movement? How does the safety of raw milk compare to that of other foods? What is the legal status of raw milk sales in New Jersey and Pennsylvania? Where can one find this very special organic food?
Dr. Heckman is the co-author of several books on how to carefully produce fresh unprocessed milk. Most recently he published a review and analysis of the raw milk movement. How can anyone take the medical profession seriously when it recommends this asinine bullcrap protocol of injecting toxic vaccines into a pregnant woman? My wife drank raw milk throughout all her pregnancies and so did my mother and grandmother…
“Pregnant Women: Avoid Soft Cheeses, But Do Get These Shots”

The “vaccine guide…makes clear to avoid live virus vaccines such as varicella (chickenpox) and measles, mumps and rubella or MMR”, yet is unconcerned about ingredients such as neurotoxins (aluminum and mercury), formaldehyde, oil based excipients, antibiotics, solvent detergents and adventitious contaminants such as retroviruses (bovine viral diarrhea), mycoplasma, bacteriophages and circovirus DNA etc. etc,?!!!

And speaking of soft cheese… I agree with culinary journalist Périco Légasse, “Pasteurised milk isn’t milk anymore!”

yes ken they do say naughty stuff like this and spread lies.and they still also say not to feed raw local honey to kids under 1 year of age.i work with tom the beekeeper .88 years old.he knows much history of food stories especially honey.the reason for them to say this is that one time years ago we got a bad batch of honey from a certain country I’m not gonna mention as they also make other things too that are good and they work hard.well this honey was a bad batch.so this story for the general public has been around all these years.i blew this myth out when i began to give ALL my 5 grandkids raw milk, raw egg yoke raw honey shake well and drink up egg nog drink since they have been 6 months old.when in doubt ask the farmer himself or herself (AS THEY ARE YOUR BEST SOURCE OF INFORMATION ON A FOOD ITEM) THEY LIVE ,BREATHE AND EAT THIS STUFF AND KNOW MUCH BETTER.THAN ANY DOCTOR.DOCTORS KNOW OTHER GOOD STUFF WHICH CANT BE BEAT AS WELL.
RAW LOCAL HONEY FROM THE BEEKEEPER AROUND THE CORNER IS FINE.ask any master herbalist and its in the Quran and the Bible as well…. as a healing agent….ANDRAW LOCAL HONEY IS NOT CUT WITH CORN SYRUP AS WELL
raw local honey from the beekeeper around the corner is fine ,ask any master herbalist…its also in the quran and the bible as word.and its not cut with corn syrup.
Didn’t know where to put this for sure, but since you’re talking about honey on this thread, I guess posting about this will fit in, too.
We have to stop being fooled by the term “organic”. In my opinion, the most important part of this is the grain fed to livestock which is then sold as organic meat, milk and eggs. A lot of chicken farmers feed grains to their chickens in the winter months, thinking it’s organic and selling the eggs with a high price tag.
Personally, I don’t look for “organic”, I look for “pasture fed” and you have to ASK QUESTIONS in order to fing those foodss, because it won’t be listed on any “label” that way. It tends to bring down the law on you and your farmer.
QUOTE FROM ARTICLE AT LINK BELOW:
“What makes this particularly problematic is that imports now make up the majority of feed grains fed to domestic certified organic livestock.”
This is eye-opening, to say the least. A shipment of what was supposed to be “organic corn” was turned away from a California port in April of 2018.

D, I agree and it all means that you can’t and shouldn’t completely trust commercial labeling, as the corporate entities always seem to find a way to subvert and sabotage in order to get away with it.
What we really need is a growing public awareness of this fact, and getting the masses to give up on lush, useless lawns that are the very symbol of vanity in favor of growing food. Edible plants and fruit trees are just as beautiful as ornamental ones, and much better for the soul and our children’s future.
Trump Wants USDA Charged with Food Safety
http://www.growingproduce.com/fruits/trump-wants-usda-charged-food-safety/
That article underscores what I’ve said a few times right here at this forum, and that is questioning why the same agency should/would have control over both foods and drugs. It’s not even logical, so the change to “Federal Drug Agency” would be much more appropriate.
This change could be really good. The USDA has at least heard the word “biodiversity”. The fda has never heard the word and would deny that they have ever heard it if they ever did hear it.
I wonder how the USDA would handle “citizens petitions” on raw milk interstate commerce ?
This change is for the better. To have food safety overseen by experts in food safety systems, as opposed to by epidemiologists, would be a huge improvement. And the CDC is a politically-influenced body. A lot of what they do is “decision-based evidence-making” – i.e. creating “evidence” to support a pre-determined public policy. Relevant to this blog, the campaign against raw milk.

So true!!!

A FOOD CHAIN RADIO RELEASE FROM MICHAEL OLSON
Ten thousand years ago, give or take, we figured out how to feed ourselves with the milk of lactating animals. We have been drinking, eating and fighting over that milk ever since. And so we ask:
How did milk do our bodies good?
This Saturday at 9am Pacific, Michael Olson’s Food Chain Radio Show hosts Mark Kurlansky, author, Milk! A Ten Thousand Year Food Fracas, for a conversation about our history with milk.
Topics include a look back at the beginnings of our history with the milk of lactating animals; why some of us developed the ability to consume milk into adulthood while others did not; and how milk nourished us down through history.

Interesting interview by Sharyl Attkisson with officials of Lerado Texas. She states, “This week we take you on a dangerous and sobering journey to see first hand what’s happening on our Southern border – without the spin. We visited one of the busiest ports of entry for both legal and illegal traffic. It’s the predominantly Hispanic city of Laredo, Texas. During our visit, one overarching theme emerged: despite what you may think: they’re bullish on border security.”

So people actually break the law – and they don’t get to take their kids to jail, prison, or with them in detention? Unbelievable. (not)
If you illegally enter China you’ll likely not be heard of again. If you illegally enter Saudi Arabia you have VERY nasty things happen to you – and maybe prison. If you enter Mexico you are treated worse than the US treats you and are automatically and immediately a FELON. More likely to be robbed, raped, beaten, killed (how many mass murdered immigrant sites have they found there so far?)
If you went LEGALLY to Mexico and became a citizen you can’t vote or own property for the rest of your life.
We used to have a functional and effective migrant worker program until it was destroyed by the rich people to sneak in cheap labor so they could destroy middle american incomes and pocket the saved $$$. They did it.
O-bomb-ya did way worse and it was KNOWN that tens of thousands of kids on his watch ended up with pedophiles and with child traffickers. On the other hand, Trump has put over a thousand pedophiles away – Lamestream Media won’t talk about it because the heads of these groups are zionists and zionists own literally 96% of the world’s media, plus publishing houses, plus Hollywood… Trump just found 51 of 70 some missing children in Michigan…
But he – like Gorge Bumble-U Douche and O-bomb-ya follows what Clinton set in motion, and HE is the ONLY one getting the fallout? Let’s rein in on the so-called “liberal” bias, OK?
In reality, tyranny looks like the US and most state governments. They are FAR more tyrannical than the literally insane King George III and we killed their soldiers to establish the freedoms you and i no longer have.
Tyranny is building a pond in Oregon, which helps reduce downstream flooding and assists in acquifer recharge – and getting multiple years IN PRISON.
Tyranny is having your 2 year old child killed by food poisoning from a meat packing plant in Colorado – and having all the government agencies track and PROVE this – and then being unable to talk about this at all because if you bad-mouth meat-packng plants in Colorado they will put you in prison for felony time.
Tyranny is having an accident with Ramen noodles, CPS coming and stealing your 5 children for 2.5 years and then finding that in the group “home” older kids would throw the 1-yr old into the deep end of a swimming pool to sink or swim. Would flick matches onto children laying in their beds – setting them on fire. Make electronic devices to zap other kids and shock them – and set the couch on fire… (Arizona)
Tyranny is having a state MANDATE vaccinations (which are NOT effective at preventing disease and NOT safe) and LITERALLY BECOME YOUR MEDICAL DICTATOR as they practice medicine without a license on a one-size-fits-all basis.
Tyranny is the govt giving poor children in Georgia uranium breakfast cereal to follow the progression of radiation exposure.
Tyranny is intentionally giving (black) men in Tuskeegee syphilis INTENTIONALLY and as they develop problems never treat any of the disease – just pretend that you are so you can track the course of the illness UNTIL DEATH OF THE PATIENTS!!!
This is far less than had the soldiers of another era fought and killed over. “Our” govt is FAR worse than anything you think. All these things are being dong by “your” government and more.
And we worry about detaining parents (maybe) of children coming illegally into this country? They SHOULDN’T be separated – they should be pushed right back across to wherever they came from.
